PARTIALS

What is a removable partial denture or “Partial?”

A Partial is a removable prosthetic that usually consist of plastic teeth attached to pink or gum-colored bases to replace any missing teeth. Depending on your needs, your dentist will design a partial denture for you. This is a great option for replacing teeth, as it is a single financial investment that replaces all missing teeth in one arch or jaw(top or bottom).

What is a partial made of?

A partial denture may have a metal framework and clasps that connect to your teeth, or they can be made of flexible plastic material the color of your gums.

If I choose a partial, why do I also need a crown(s)?

Crowns on your natural teeth are sometimes needed to improve the fit of a removable partial denture and they are usually required with attachments. This is typically only recommended when the teeth the partial is attaching to need crowns to make them stronger and protect the teeth.
