Help Haiti

By now, everyone waking this morning has heard of the earthquake that hit Port-Au-Prince, Haiti yesterday as the sun was going down. CNN is reporting that the capital city is devastated. Even the Presidential Palace has been severely damaged. Our little Margarette is in the town of Ouanaminthe which is Northeast of Port-au-Prince. We’ve not been able to speak directly with her but Karris Hudson, long term missionary, has assured us that all of the children are okay. Ouanaminthe is still feeling the aftershocks of the 7.0 Earthquake.

Many of you have asked how you can help. Melody and I are sending money directly to Danita’s Orphanage. Getting clothes, supplies, etc. directly to the people now will be very difficult. Danita and orphanage’s throughout the country are going to be overwhelmed with children who have lost their parents. Danita also teams with other orphanages throughout the country and she can best determine the orphanages in immediate need. Several of these orphanages are in Port-au-Prince.

Quite simply,at this time, the best way to help is to send money. It doesn’t matter how much. Every penny will go to feed and care for someone who’s in need. The best way to give and give now is to go to Danita’s website, www.danitaschildren.org, click on Ways to Give at the top of the page, then click on Give Now.

May God Bless all of you.

I’m reminded of two bible versus.

1. 1 John 3:18 “Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and truth.”
2. Isaiah 50:10 ” And if you spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noon day.”

Mother Teresa once said that all people should “Find their own Calcutta.” Let this be your Calcutta.
